Cashew nut Association of Cambodia (CAC) was invited to attend a National Customs School workshop organized by the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia, focusing on Customs Incentives for Cashew Investors. The event took place on March 3, 2025. It featured participation from 11 member enterprises of the CAC, along with representatives from three exporting companies, including foreign businessmen from South Africa, India, and China.
During the workshop, we learned about several important topics:
1. Laws and regulations governing the industry.
2. Incentives available under the Investment Law.
3. Support mechanisms for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
4. The responsibilities of the state regarding taxes and duties in the agricultural sector.
We explored the procedures for obtaining eight incentives under the Investment Law, which include areas such as manufacturing, physical infrastructure, agro-industry, small and medium enterprises, green energy, special economic zones, services, and education centers. The training focused extensively on customs and the incentives available for the cashew sector, as well as non-negative investment activities that are encouraged once a certificate of registration is obtained.
Specifically, for the cashew sector, the goal is to promote and facilitate the export of both raw and processed cashew nut. The workshop also covered how to facilitate Qualified Investment Project (QIP) applications, allowing factories to import processing machines and equipment, along with production lines, duty-free.
